Quan Yin (Kwan Yin) Statues

kuanyin-statues-web.jpg

Quan Yin, the bodhisattva “Goddess of Mercy," (also known as Kuan Yin and Kwannon), is one of four great bodhisattvas in Buddhism. Our collection of bronze, porcelain and resin Quan Yin statues and handpainted silk scrolls, are offered in a variety of styles and motifs from different Asian cultures and can bring a sense of peace and tranquility to any room.

Quan Yin embodies one of the two fundamental aspects of buddhahood, compassion, (karuna) in virtue of which she is often given the epithet Mahakaruna, “Great Compassion.” Quan Yin also embodies the power of the future Buddha Amitabha manifested as a bodhisattva. Her limitless compassion expresses itself in the wonderful ability to help all beings that turn to her at times of extreme danger or dire need.

In some of the images shown below, she is depicted carrying the pearls of illumination or shown pouring a stream of healing water, the “Water of Life,” from a small vase. With this water, devotees and all living things are blessed with physical and spiritual peace. In other images she holds a sheaf of ripe rice or a bowl of rice seed as a metaphor for fertility and sustenance. The dragon, an ancient symbol for high spirituality, wisdom, strength and divine powers of transformation, is a common motif found in combination with the Goddess of Mercy.
